Current Week — Market Outlook May 15, 2026

This week's outlook focuses on US CPI release (Thursday), ECB meeting minutes (Wednesday), and BoE quarterly inflation report (Thursday). Mid-May historically shows reduced trading volume as US institutional traders position for the summer slowdown ahead. Watch for technical setups that break through May highs/lows for clearer directional bias.

  • EUR/USD: range 1.0820-1.0890 in focus; CPI release could break the range either direction
  • GBP/USD: BoE inflation report key driver; BoE has been cautiously dovish, surprise hawkishness would spike Cable
  • BTC/USD: consolidating around $60k after April pullback; key resistance $62k, support $58k
  • Gold: continues benefit from real-rate uncertainty; $2,340 support critical, breakdown opens $2,300
  • WTI Oil: OPEC+ meeting end-of-month creates pre-meeting positioning; range $78-$85 watching

How Our Market Outlook Is Produced

Each weekly outlook follows a defined process. Sunday morning: Senior Trading Editor (Sarah Johnson) reviews the upcoming week's economic calendar, identifies high-impact events, and drafts an analysis. Sunday afternoon: Risk Analyst (David Mitchell, FRM) adds risk-management notes for each scenario. Sunday evening: Senior Reviewer (Anna Petrov, CFA) fact-checks all claims and approves for publication. Outlook publishes Sunday 22:00 UTC, in time for Asian session Monday open. See /methodology/ for full editorial process.

What Our Outlook Is NOT

  • NOT investment advice — this is informational analysis only
  • NOT trade signals — no buy/sell recommendations
  • NOT predictions — we describe scenarios and levels, not certainties
  • NOT a substitute for your own analysis — use this as one input among many
  • NOT a guarantee of accuracy — markets surprise; we may be wrong

How to Use the Weekly Outlook

  • Step 1 — Read Sunday's outlook before Asian session open Monday
  • Step 2 — Note the key events and price levels mentioned
  • Step 3 — Plan which scenarios match your strategy preferences
  • Step 4 — During the week, refer back as events unfold
  • Step 5 — After the week, review accuracy of our outlook to calibrate your trust in future analyses
  • Step 6 — Apply your own risk management — outlook is one input, not a directive

Market Outlook FAQ

How accurate is your outlook?

Honest answer: we get directional bias right approximately 55-65% of the time, but specific price targets less often. Markets surprise; our outlook is structured around scenarios rather than predictions. The value is in helping you THINK ABOUT the week ahead, not in predicting it. We log accuracy publicly at /corrections/ when we're significantly wrong.

When is the next outlook published?

Every Sunday at 22:00 UTC. We publish before Asian session Monday opens so you have the analysis before the trading week begins.

Can I trade based directly on your outlook?

We don't recommend trading directly off any outlook (ours or others). Use it as context for your own setups. Our outlook might say 'EUR/USD bullish above 1.0850' — your job is to find a technical entry within that bias, with your own stop and position sizing rules.

Do you cover specific stocks?

Currently we focus on major forex pairs, BTC, gold, oil, and stock indices (S&P 500, Nasdaq). Individual stocks have too many idiosyncratic events to cover weekly with depth. For stock-specific analysis, dedicated equity research is more useful than our general market outlook.

Do you predict crypto prices?

We provide directional bias for BTC and ETH based on macro context (USD direction, risk-on/risk-off). We don't predict specific price targets. Crypto markets have too much idiosyncratic news flow (whale activity, exchange listings, regulatory headlines) to predict reliably with macro frameworks alone.

Are previous outlooks archived?

Yes — all weekly outlooks remain available indefinitely. The archive cards above link to each prior week. We don't delete old analyses even when wrong — keeping them transparent helps readers calibrate trust in our methodology over time.
